The Connecticut Starters 12/13 East team brought home the gold from the Team Connecticut 4th of July Classic. We went 3-1 in pool play, beating Team Connecticut twice, Queens Express and dropping one game to the WBA Knicks. However, behind an outstanding performance by Lauren McKinnon
(Killingworth), who scored 15 points on 7 of 11 shooting and hitting an amazing 5 jumpers in a row we beat Team Connecticut decisively in the semi finals to face Queens Express in the finals.
We faced Queens Express in the finals and got off to an excellent start. The Express made a run in the second half but excellent ball handling and key free throws made all the difference as we pulled out the victory and our first gold medal! Congratulations girls! We are proud of you!
