Springfield College head women's basketball coach Naomi Graves appointed Ross Evans assistant coach,
and Janna Dietz and Becky Kanupka graduate assistant coaches.
Kanupka, who hails from Rocky Hill, Conn., ranks in the top-10 in numerous statistical categories at SC. A four-year starter at
forward, she scored 795 points and pulled down 528 rebounds despite missing parts of two seasons due to severe knee injuries. As a senior, Kanupka overcame an injury suffered during pre-season practice to earn honorable mention All-America recognition, the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC)
Player-of-the-Year Award and ECAC New England First-Team All-Star honors. That season, she lifted SC to a school-record 25 wins, including 17 straight triumphs, and a spot in the regional semifinals of the NCAA Tournament.
As a freshman in the 1998-'99 season, she was voted the ECAC Division III New England and New England Basketball Coaches' Association Rookie of the Year.
Kanupka was awarded a bachelor's degree in elementary education from SC in May of 2002. She is pursuing a master's degree in special education.
The Pride has won the last three NEWMAC championships and earned a berth in three consecutive NCAA Division III Tournaments.
